as she lands, she turns and watches the ball... and then just laughs a little. ]
W...wow. Strong kick.
...I'll get it.

[ and she's off to go grab the ball! she'll be back in a second, provided nothing broke anywhere.
she's really getting her workout today! ]
no subject
I gues I gotta practice aim... Basketball would've been better after all...
[She's mumbling to herself.]
no subject
Heads up!
[ she does her own kick! it's nothing too strong obviously, but it's something she'd be using to attempt to score a goal.
if there was a net behind yayoi anyway. ]
no subject
[Yayoi lunges! And!
Completely misses. So now she has to chase the ball for a bit herself before she can return...]
All right, that was fair, I guess...
no subject
[ okay! she claps again. ]
Let's just keep going straight ahead. I'll stop it for sure!

[be afraid of this]

bury her at sea, please. ]
Give me everything you've got!
[ okay. steady, solid... ready. ]

Yayoi sees that aura. Holy crap, what an aura it is. She's so determined it's visible. That means she has to respond to that aura in kind. She has to give it her all. No, if someone as normal as Haruhi is responding to her that strongly, she has to go past her all. She has to give it everything and then some.
She takes a deep breath. She feels the flow of energy in her body. She channels it all down her leg, stomping the ball, sending it into the air. And as it falls...
Yayoi's own battle aura, of sorts, seems to come out. To Haruhi's eyes, the world may suddenly be night, with a full moon hanging overhead. Only an illusion, of course, not truly there, but even so.
The ball falls. And Yayoi takes a stance- One leg shifts to the side. All her weight on one leg. Arms to the side as she shifts her forward leg as though she's drawing a line in the dirt.
And then she spins. A single kick, putting every ounce of her power and energy into one, single kick. It streaks forward, rainbow lights coating it, divine power-
No, wait, none of that. It's still just a normal ball. She may have tried to use her finisher on the ball, but she isn't transformed.
Still, untransformed or not, she absolutely just hit that ball with a Rider Kick, directly at Haruhi.]

she's a kouyouen student. a functioning part of a student body filled with stuffy boring teenagers who have already decided their path in life and their next steps in education. the last remaining gray void in her life, where she puts up the front of an aloof young woman who does her work, is followed by her one sycophant, and leaves immediately after class has ended. it's a part of her philosophy: get all of the dull things out of the way immediately so you can have fun. it's why she had spent days after the unbirthday party in the library, studying bloomcraft. do your research, and then apply it when you needed to.
she is, at heart, an adventurer. someone desperate to seek out the unknown, having been frustrated with the idea of being one of thousands in her town, one of millions in her country, one of billions in the world, leading the same normal life that everyone else seems to be. no aliens, time travelers, espers, or sliders. no superpowers, magic, masked heroes or costumed villains. it's why she came to the magic romance world. why else would she? romance? she's tried that. she's disliked it. she'd long since decided that love was nothing more than a powerful delusion that warps your brain into believing you may or may not feel something that may or may not exist. something you don't understand until you meet someone else in love. then you know, you've been deluded the entire time.
and that's because she's a member of the north high literature club. a club in an entirely different school with a mundane student body, a normal looking building with the activities you'd see in any japanese high school. a club where they barely do any literary activities at all, instead more of a hangout spot where haruhi can decide to organize a trip, or a fun thing for them to take part in, or more recently due to exams, just exist in. the one place in the world where she can be herself, thanks to the boy the president of the club is dating. where even if none of that stuff exists, she can be happy with what she's doing. the reason why she's slowed down considerably since her first year of high school.
the reason why she took this last chance at the extraordinary. ]

haruhi suzumiya is also a goddamn numbskull.
truthfully, she does have her instincts kick in. the aura she conjured up immediately disappears as yayoi's leg makes contact with the ball. the problem being, what does she do after that? she should get the hell out of the way, right? dive away before that ball actually makes contact and does whatever. she's not sure the ball will even make it to her intact, but that's more of a pipe dream than anything.
but, this is her bed. she asked for this. she braced for it. haruhi shifts one hand under the other to deflect the ball, tensing every muscle in her athletically above-average body. hoping that the gardener's gloves will be enough to completely take the force of this Rider Kicked ball.
it's naturally, not enough. ]
rip haruhi suzumiya. you lived well and died a dipshit.
"Ah. So this is your true power, Yayoi..."
she probably collides with the net, probably does in a way cause the ball to ricochet. all she knows is that the rider kick effectively worked, defeating the young lady who had decided this was a good idea. all that's known is that haruhi 100% lost consciousness, and was flat on her back on the grass. ]
HELP HER
...
Where did that other aura go? Did it vanish before Yayoi's ball collided? That can't be right, right?
Why isn't Haruhi moving? Yayoi calls out a couple times.
She shakes Haruhi's shoulder.
Why isn't she responding?
Her mind suddenly flashes back to Gold Ship. Accidentally seriously hurting someone. But it wasn't an accident, was it? She just- She thought-
Tears well up in her eyes. Oh no. She can't cry. She has to get this fixed first.]
S- Someone help! Is anyone around- We need- A doctor! A doctor! Someone with healing! Anything! Help!
Re: HELP HER
[Akane's taken to wearing an Infuser's pouch, set with all kinds of herbs she's gathered and purchased with her salary as a line cook, and she was already moving at speed when she felt Yayoi's battle aura.]
[Not that she knows it's Yayoi's, she just knew there was a serious attack in the offing and went to head it off. Too late.]
[Akane, therefore, skids to a halt, the dirt of the Dawnfield Grounds kicking up in a somewhat familiar way.]
What happened? Don't move her, yet.
[... Haruhi!?]

[She's panicking.]
no subject
Still alive. Good. Easy. Take your time. I need to mix anyway.
[She's also pulling a knife, marked with perhaps an extremely familiar imprintwork.]
Specifically, if you can remember, how did she strike the net?
no subject
[SHE'S SO RELIEVED TO HEAR SHE'S ALIVE....]
no subject
[Possible bone breaks, internal bleeding, concussion?]
Where's the ball? Could you go get it for me?
no subject
[She grabs the ball! It's... well, a normal sports ball. For Rosavelle.]
no subject
[That's good news???? She's separated out a specific set of herbs, which she places into the bottom of a shaker that she fills with water.]
Which means I don't have to help her swallow...
[She closes the shaker, hums, and the water heats to the perfect temperature for tea. And then she shakes, slowly pressing down the infusion.]
[The mixture begins to glow a shining, radium green.]
no subject
[Huh. She's watching. Healing magic...?]
no subject
... She has to swallow it, but...
It should stop any internal bleeding and help with what's likely a concussion and whiplash. If we can get her ambulatory we can get her to better care in the infirmary.
[Ah. That's why she's doing this.]
no subject
[SHE'S SO GUILTY.]
I- I didn't mean... She had so much focus, so much spirit, I...
no subject
... Go inform the infirmary; they'll know more of what to do. I'll stabilize her.
[It's at about this point she cuts open Haruhi's shirt to see the extent of the damage with a knife that does not cut flesh. Of all the souvenirs to keep.]
