Lily Barracks
The exception however is Glinda. Huh... his memory isn't the greatest when it comes to names and faces but he did try to keep a note of who he was sharing a house with and this one's definitely unknown to him. ]
Oh-- you're a new face, aren't you?
[ariana voice] gasp! a man!
Another roommate? I was wondering if that bedroom across from mine was a spare.
[She'll have to consider somewhere else if she needs a second closet, then.]
My name's Glinda.
Hearthsong Saloon
He usually takes the same spot, one far away from the windows and mirrors, (Gods the amount of mirrors in this damn castle will be the second death of him) and even sometimes accepts a pot of tea from the staff. Half the time he spends reading but the other half? He's got a project.
Namely the cloak he wore during the Wilting Festival. He's been working on adding his own touch of embroidery to it steadily for over a month now, giving it a similar floral design that his padded doublet from home also had. The gold along the edges stands out amongst the black even more than it did on the burgundy, drawing in the eye. Though it's still not "done" (at least in his eyes) he is making consistent progress and at the rate he's going it'll be complete before the weather warms back up. There's a faint flicker of magic that can felt from the stitches, but there's too much here. It's spread too thin and fizzles out too quickly to be useful in any way... and he has no idea. Once one of the servants tried telling him that as a beginner he should start with a smaller project and he just looked at her like she'd grown a second head. He might not be a tailor but calling him a "beginner" was rather ludicrous, wasn't it?
He would later realize what she actually meant, but not for a while yet.
...Curiously though he's started working on another project as well. Something to give himself a little break from the cloak, that's all. A lovely little embroidered handkerchief, nothing special. No reason why he only works on it when he's here and not back at Venus' room, definitely not--
And no, he hasn't noticed the magic here either. Even though it's far more pronounced. Concentrated. It might actually even have an effect once its intended recipient receives it....... not that it's being made for anyone, of course not...! ]
no subject
Today, though, he's only just entered the room--albeit with a yawn--and is thus perfectly awake to register who's sitting over there, minding, quite unlike Yoojin, his own dang business.
He perks up. Friend! Even better: Venus' friend! He bounces over with his basket like a floppy-eared puppy himself.]
Oh! Astarion, hi! It's Yoojin, from the Tulip barracks. We met just after the Wilting Festival.
[He reintroduces himself easily, like he naturally doesn't expect to be remembered. Then his eyes catch on the cloak Astarion's embroidering and widen. It's clearly not finished yet, which means--]
Whoa, did you do all that yourself? Wow. You're really good at sewing, huh?
[Among the thread and roving in Yoojin's basket sit a couple lumpy, indistinct felting projects, and a few scraps of fabric with the same Imprintwork sigil embroidered on over and over in simple, clumsy backstitch.]
Around Rosavelle
There's a few spots he tends to frequent. The Floating Basket to look at the trinkets and garlands (never the food, although that never stops people from trying to sell them to him anyway), the Fountain Market Plaza for all the crafts, and String & Soul to look at the fabrics, but more importantly, to hear all the gossip. Despite his reclusiveness back at the castle, he seems to get along swimmingly with the owners. Initially it all started with merely discussions about the craft, questions about where they got their supplies and what not, but eventually it shifted to figurative tea spilling. Does Astarion know any of the people he hears about? No! Is he having fun listening to all the drama? Absolutely.
He's especially proud to show off his finished cloak to them today - and wear it all over town, honestly. ]
Roselight Springs
The hot springs. He's never had the chance to go to one before and usually he would just keep walking by, but the enchantments seem to be hitting him a little even just from out here on the street. And so he finds himself coming to a halt and just... staring at the building's entrance for a while.
...It's not like he wouldn't like to try it. But does this count as running water? He's never been in one so he wouldn't know for sure. And besides that...
His free, non-parasol holding hand absentmindedly finds its way across his chest and over his shoulder, finger tips settling on his back. ]
